Nationals' Irvin Headed to High-A

Minor League Move Announced

The Washington Nationals have assigned right-handed pitcher Jake Irvin to the Wilmington Blue Rocks, their High-A affiliate. The move was announced by the team on Tuesday.

Irvin, 24, has pitched in 12 games (11 starts) for the Fredericksburg Nationals this season, posting a 5.23 ERA with 43 strikeouts in 57.1 innings pitched. He was selected by the Nationals in the 12th round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

Irvin will join a Blue Rocks team that is currently in first place in the South Atlantic League North Division. The Blue Rocks are scheduled to open a three-game series against the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers on Tuesday night.

Irvin's assignment to Wilmington is part of a series of roster moves by the Nationals. The team also announced that they have placed reliever Tanner Rainey on the 10-day injured list with a right calf strain.
