Bears Trade Wide Receiver Chase Claypool to Miami Dolphins

The Chicago Bears have traded wide receiver Chase Claypool to the Miami Dolphins, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. In exchange, the Bears will receive a late-round draft pick.

Claypool, 24, was acquired by the Bears from the Pittsburgh Steelers in a trade on November 1, 2022. He had 32 catches for 390 yards and two touchdowns in 11 games with the Bears.

The Dolphins are in need of wide receiver help after trading Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins in March. Claypool will likely be a starter for the Dolphins, who are hoping to compete for a playoff berth in 2023.

The Bears, meanwhile, are in a rebuilding mode and are looking to accumulate draft picks. They have traded away a number of veterans in recent months, including Claypool, Robert Quinn, and Roquan Smith.

The trade of Claypool to the Dolphins is the latest in a series of moves by the Bears to reshape their roster. The team is hoping to be competitive in 2023, but they are likely to be a challenger for the NFC North title.
